Former President Donald Trump said Wednesday he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, after the foreign leader’s scheduled meeting with the President Joe Biden was canceled.
“Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, tomorrow,” Trump posted on TRUTH social.
In his announcement, Trump touted his administration’s work with Israel, including the signing of the Abraham Accords, bilateral agreements between the Jewish state and its Arab neighbors.
“Just as I have said in discussions with President Zelensky and other World Leaders in recent weeks, my PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH Agenda will demonstrate to the World that these horrible, deadly Wars, and violent Conflicts must end,” Trump posted. “Millions are dying, and Kamala Harris is in no way capable of stopping it.”
Netanyahu’s office has not officially confirmed the Mar-a-Lago meeting.
The White House canceled Netanyahu’s planned Tuesday visit with President Joe Biden after the latter was diagnosed with COVID. Biden is now scheduled to meet with Netanyahu on Thursday.
Netanyahu will address a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, the main purpose of his visit. Vice President Kamala Harris, now the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, will not attend Netanyahu’s speech, opting instead to attend a convention for the historically-black Zeta Phi Beta sorority, the Times of Israel reported. Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Ben Cardin will preside over the joint session instead.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said it was “inexcusable” that Harris is not presiding over the speech, accusing her of “abandoning her seat.”
“She needs to be held accountable for that… The idea [that Democrats] are making political calculations when our ally is such dire straits, fighting for its very survival and fighting back against the horrific attack in October is unconscionable to us.”

Johnson threatened to arrest any disruptors during Netanyahu’s speech in a letter to his colleagues on Tuesday.
“All members should kindly inform their guests that any disruption of the proceedings of the House is a violation of the rules and may subject the offenders to prosecution,” Johnson wrote. “If any disturbance does occur, the sergeant-at-arms and Capitol Police will remove the offending visitor(s) from the gallery and subject them to arrest.”
He added that there will be an increased police presence around the Capital and in the House Chamber.
According to the Harris’s office, the vice president will meet with Netanayhu later this week to convey “her view that it is time for the war to end in a way in which Israel is secure, all hostages are released, the suffering of Palestinian civilians in Gaza ends and the Palestinian people can enjoy their right to dignity, freedom, and self-determination.”
