Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming border czar, said during an interview this week that Trump’s deportation plan will start on the day he is sworn into office.
Homan made the remarks during a CNN interview Wednesday with Kaitlan Collins on “The Source” while speaking about the upcoming administration’s plans.
Homan said that there were “over 700,000 illegal aliens with criminal convictions on the streets of this country” right now.
“Day one will be ICE officers across the country, will be out on the streets,” Homan said. “Right out of the gate, president has made it clear, and I’ve made it clear, the priority right out of the gate’s public safety threats and national security threats.”
He said that under the Biden administration, there has been a 74% decrease in the removal of criminal illegal aliens from the U.S. and that U.S. law enforcement officials will have their hands full removing the criminals during the initial months of the Trump administration.

When asked how many people he would deport, Homan said that he was not sure because he needed to see what budget he would be allocated.

“We need Congress to give us money to get this done,” he said. “Because I don’t know how many resources I have. I don’t know how much money I want to have to buy beds. I don’t how much money I will have to buy transportation contracts. That’s why it’s imperative on Congress and reconciliation to give us the money we needed to do this.”
He said that he would like to see the Department of Defense assist in the rounding up of illegal aliens, which he said would be “a force multiplier.”
Homan said the way that it would work is to have military personnel take over administrative and office work to free up ICE personnel to go do work in the field.
He said that he would also ask the military for help with transportation on ground and in the air.
“We want to arrest as many people as we can. They’re in the country illegally,” he said. “Again, based on prioritization. We want to arrest every criminal, every gang member that’s here illegally, that’s a public safety threat.”
“We want to arrest every fugitive, those who had due process at great taxpayer expense, and have an order deportation, but didn’t leave, and became a fugitive,” he added. “We got over 1.5 million of those.”
“I want to arrest as many people as we can with the resources we have, want to be the most efficient we can, based on prioritization,” he concluded. “There’s no limit.”
