President Donald Trump labeled George Clooney a “second rate movie star” following the actor’s interview on “60 Minutes” in which he claimed there was an attack on freedom of the press.
“Why would the now highly discredited ‘60 Minutes’ be doing a total ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second rate movie ‘star,’ and failed political pundit,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social.
“He [Clooney] fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the debate, dumped him like a dog,” he added. “Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for ‘Kamala,’ only to soon realize that that was not going to work out to well.”
“‘60 Minutes’ even fraudulently inserted fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history,” Trump continued. “And now George Clooney again? His press agent should be making a fortune!”

Trump’s comments came after the 63-year-old actor’s interview in which he referenced the president’s $20 billion defamation suit against CBS for its “60 Minutes” interview with the former vice president before the election, which Trump has said was deceptively edited.
“When the other three estates fail, when the judiciary and the executive and the legislative branches fail us, the fourth estate has to succeed,” Clooney said on CBS. “Has to succeed, as ‘60 Minutes’ is here right now on our first day.”
“We’re seeing this idea of using government to scare or fine or use corporations — to make journalists smaller,” he added. “Governments don’t like the freedom of the press. They never have. And that goes for whether you are a conservative or a liberal or whatever side you’re on. They don’t like the press.”
“Journalism and telling truth to power has to be waged like war is waged,” Clooney continued. “It doesn’t just happen accidentally. You know, it takes people saying, we’re gonna do these stories and you’re gonna have to come after us. And that’s the way it is.”
At one point in the interview, the “Oceans 11” star and longtime Democrat supporter doubled-down on writing his New York Times op-ed when he said President Biden needed to step down, allowing for the party to get behind now-failed Democrat candidate Harris.
“I was raised to tell the truth,” Clooney said. “I had seen the president up close for this fundraiser, and I was surprised. And so I feel as if there was a lot of profiles in cowardice in my party through all of that. And I was not proud of that. And I also believed I had to tell the truth.”
