Republicans and top conservatives slammed President Joe Biden on Sunday night after he pardoned his son Hunter Biden from every crime he committed or may have committed over an 11-year period of time.
“Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden said. “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”
Biden lied in his statement, falsely claiming that his son was only charged because “several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election.”
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong,” Biden claimed. “There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”

Biden’s sweeping pardon for his son was met with instant backlash from conservatives who called it a corrupt abuse of power.
“Joe Biden has lied from start to finish,” said House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) in a post on X. “It’s unfortunate that, rather than come clean about their decades of wrongdoing, President Biden and his family continue to do everything they can to avoid accountability.”
Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), the incoming Senate Majority Whip, said in a post on X, “Tonight’s pardon is wrong. It proves to the American people that there is a two-tier system of justice.”
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) wrote on X: “Democrats said there was nothing to our impeachment inquiry. If that’s the case, why did Joe Biden just issue Hunter Biden a pardon for the very things we were inquiring about?”
“Never forget: while Hunter was selling access to ‘the big guy,’ Joe Biden’s administration sent SWAT teams to the homes of prolifers; recruited spies in Catholic parishes; treated parents as domestic terrorists; and prosecuted Trump,” said Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO). “The most lawless administration in history.”
Sen.-elect Jim Banks (R-IN) noted that the time period that Biden pardoned his son for included the entire time that he worked at the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, which was the center of the Democrats’ first impeachment of Trump.
Joe Biden issued a pardon to Hunter Biden for any crimes that he might have committed since 2014.
Why such a specific year?
Well, Hunter Biden just so happened to join the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy firm, in that same year, 2014.

“Most Americans can sympathize with a father’s decision to pardon his son, even if they disagree,” said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR). “What they can’t forgive is Biden lying about it repeatedly before the election.”
“Remember, the Biden DOJ tried to give Hunter a corrupt sweetheart deal that was only stopped when the judge asked questions. This entire ordeal has been an affront to the rule of law,” he continued. “Democrats can spare us the lectures about the rule of law when, say, President Trump nominates Pam Bondi and Kash Patel to clean up this corruption.”
