Reality star Spencer Pratt said he plans to sue the state of California after losing his $3 million home to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
The father of two made the announcement over the weekend while speaking with blogger Perez Hilton, noting how he was unable to get help from the Los Angeles Fire Department as his house went up in smoke.
“They never came. The gate was still locked,” Pratt said, per The Daily Mail. “They never came. I watched from my security cameras until our house burned down. There were no fire trucks.”
The reality star said he called 911 but they couldn’t help him. He claims he told the dispatcher that if they sent “one fire truck” down his street they “could stop [the fire from] coming down the whole freaking area.”
Pratt said he was told the fire department didn’t “have the assets.”
The reality star, who is best known for his role on “The Hills,” is married to fellow alum Heidi Montag. They’ve been posting multiple updates about the loss of their home.

“I’m watching our house burn down on the security cameras,” Pratt told fans in a Snapchat video taken from inside a car right after the fires broke out.
“The one positive sign I saw as our house burned down was our son’s bed burned in the shape of a heart,” he posted later on Instagram alongside Ring camera footage from inside his house. “A sign of how much love was in this house so thankful for all the years and memories there with our family.”
Early on Wednesday morning, Montag also shared a video of herself crying on Snapchat, saying she is “so sad our house is gone.”
Pratt posted a series of photos to TikTok on Friday showing him standing in front of his destroyed home. He included the caption, “Please stream any of [Heidi Montag’s] music on any platforms it will make a huge difference.”
His posts helped Montag’s 2010 album “Superficial” reach number one on iTunes on Saturday, beating out Bad Bunny’s “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” per Variety. The album failed to chart at all when it was initially released.
“Popstar Heidi Montag No. 1 on iTunes America,” Pratt said in response to the news. “Thank you everyone! Who needs a house, who needs clothes, who needs anything but this level of clout, pop, superstardom? Our sons are gonna be like, ‘My mom was No. 1 on iTunes America.’ Thank you to everyone who made this happen.”
