President Donald Trump teased First Lady Melania Trump following his second inauguration, ribbing her about her attire — specifically her hat — and claiming that “she almost blew away.”

In a video from The Daily Wire, Trump gave remarks to supporters shortly after he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, and he commented briefly on Melania’s attire. The first lady wore a custom double-breasted navy coat with a matching boater hat. She completed the look with black leather gloves and matching dark blue suede pumps.

“I shouldn’t say this. I’m going to get hell when I say this, but her [Melania’s] feet are absolutely aching. You know those heels,” Trump told the room, as the first lady lost her stoic composure and a huge grin spread across her face.

“And we thought we were leaving, going home,” he added, noting that’s when it was suggested to him to go and give remarks to some more supporters.

Trump said Melania then turned to him and said “Darling, I love you so much, but my feet are killing me.”

“And then we went out to the helicopter just prior to this and said goodbye [to former President Joe Biden and Jill Biden], which is custom, and the wind is blowing like crazy,” the President said. “And with the hat that she’s wearing, she almost blew away. We almost lost our First Lady.”

“She was being elevated off the ground,” he added. “She almost blew away. No, so we all appreciate it. You’ve been a great first lady, beautiful and a great first lady. And they love our first lady.”

The room then broke out into applause and cheers for Melania who smiled through Trump’s telling of the story.

The first lady’s attire for the day was thanks to American designers Adam Lippes and Eric Javits, according to the official social media account for First Lady news & style reporting.

The same social media account posted behind-the-scenes work on the hat.

“Exclusive look at @EricJavits making the iconic hat that Melania Trump is wearing today #FashionoftheFirstLady,” the post read.

A few images also showed up on X of the first lady holding on to the hat making sure it doesn’t get blown away.
