The NFL has announced that it has made plans, should such a move be necessary, to move the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings playoffs game to Arizona on Monday night due to the fires raging in southern California.

A statement from the National Football League on Thursday said that the wild-card playoff Vikings-Rams game is still currently scheduled to take place on Monday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California — but noted that the league has set up a contingency plan if the Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, and Hurst Fire continue to rage. Those fires have already resulted in tens of thousands of evacuations in the area.

“The NFL’s priority is the safety of the Los Angeles community,” the statement read. “We are grateful for the tireless efforts of the first responders. Our hearts are with Los Angeles and everyone affected by the fires.

“We continue to prepare to play the Vikings-Rams game as scheduled Monday night at SoFi Stadium,” the statement added. “As with all games, there are contingency plans in the event a change in location is needed. In this instance, the game would be played on Monday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ, if necessary.”

“We will continue to closely monitor developments in the area and will remain in contact with public officials, both clubs and the NFLPA,” the statement concluded.

The Los Angeles Rams also posted about the plans for the Monday night game writing on X, “the safety of the LA community is our top priority. As of now, our Wild Card playoff game remains scheduled to be played at SoFi Stadium on Monday night. As with all games, the NFL has contingency plans in the event a change in location is needed.”

LA Rams stars Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp praised the first responders trying to battle the blaze.

“Thank you to all of the first responders! God bless the families impacted!” Nacua wrote on X.

“Our thoughts and prayers  are with everyone affected by the fires,” Kupp added. “Thank you to the firefighters, first responders, and everyone else doing their best in unfathomable circumstances.”

On Wednesday, the NHL announced that it had postponed a game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames due to the fires.

“In light of the devastating effects of the wildfires in the Los Angeles area, tonight’s game between the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames at Crypto.com Arena, NHL Game No. 653, has been postponed,” a statement from the National Hockey League read.

“The thoughts of the entire NHL family are with the Kings, hockey fans and the people of the Los Angeles area during this difficult time,” it added. “A makeup date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed.”
