An MSNBC guest suggested on Sunday that the coming days could be marked by “high-level resignations” in President Joe Biden’s orbit.
The comments came from Mark Leibovich, former New York Times Magazine’s chief national correspondent, during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” where he spoke with the former White House Press Secretary about Biden’s precarious position going into the 2024 presidential election.

Pointing to Biden’s disastrous debate performance and his less-than-stellar follow-up interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, Leibovich said that he would not be surprised to see people around the president make their way to the nearest exit.
Explaining that Democrats in the House and Senate might stick by Biden despite his apparent difficulties, he argued that those in advisory positions might be less likely to stick around.
“Joe Biden has given very, very few opportunities to be seen, and I think that — another thing I would point out in the next coming days as we go into the week — is not so much Capitol Hill, but I mean, there could be some pretty high level resignations around Biden, whether on the campaign or maybe in the White House or the administration or something,” he said.
“I mean, that quote in the New York Times piece that you alluded to, and again, people like us look closely at the criminology of this,” he continued. “But … this is … the walls seem to be coming in very closely, and I think after the debate he had one really good thing going for him, which was time. He seems to have wasted almost two weeks at this point.”
Psaki also came down relatively harshly on her former boss, saying that it was unclear to her what the best move might be for Biden going forward.
“The questions I’m getting the most are: What’s going to happen? And what is the best path forward? I won’t tell you I know the answer to either question. No one does,” she said.
