Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) got a virtual earful after he tried to shame Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) for putting forth a bill that would prevent biological males from using the women’s restrooms on Capitol Hill.

Mace’s bill comes on the heels of the November 5th election of Sarah McBride (D-DE), a trans-identifying man, to the U.S. House of Representatives — and Phillips called Mace “pathetic” for demanding that women’s spaces be protected.

“Pathetic. What are you scared of, Nancy?” Phillips, who challenged President Joe Biden in the 2024 Democratic primary, posted on X.

“What’s pathetic about it, @Deanbphillips?” podcast host Megyn Kelly asked. “Women have a right to know when they go into a bathroom, no men will be in there. Why should members of Congress or female Hill staffers have to sacrifice this security so that men pretending to be women can feel better?”

“Men attacking women for not wanting men in their bathrooms, with challenges of ‘oh so you’re a wimp?’, is f***ing disgusting,” another posted.

“Women have many reasons to desire female only spaces. And legitimate fear of dealing with men while vulnerable is actually a significant part of that. Men trying to force other men into women only spaces is beyond creepy, Dean,” The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway added.

“She’s afraid of predatory, mentally ill men having unrestricted access to the women’s bathroom,” Jordan Schachtel said.

Several critics pointed out the fact that Mace is a rape survivor herself, making Phillips’ attack on her even more out of line.

“Demanding that a rape survivor share a bathroom with a biological male and then calling her ‘pathetic’ is about as low and disgusting as it gets,” one commented.

“I’d guess Based Mace is scared of…men coming into the women’s resteoom. Given that she survived a rape, that seems like a pretty rational fear,” Andrew Follett added.
