On Friday, failed vice-presidential candidate and hard-Left Minnesota Governor Tim Walz endorsed radical activist David Hogg, who made himself famous after the 2018 Parkland, Florida school shooting, to be the Democratic National Committee’s Vice Chair.
“David Hogg represents exactly the kind of bold, dynamic, and courageous leadership our party needs right now. He has a unique ability to connect with the American people and to speak to the strengths of our party. I couldn’t be happier to support him for DNC Vice Chair.”

In early December, Hogg, 24, told reporters he was considering running for a top leadership position in the Democratic National Committee (DNC). He stated:
I think we need a new generation in the DNC, if this election has taught us nothing else. I think we need an intergenerational coalition as a party. …. the thing that I’ve realized more than anything is that we have a number of problems in the party, but I think the main one overall is that we would rather live in a comfortable delusion than an uncomfortable reality. And I think what the party needs to do is open its eyes and take its fingers out of its ears basically.
Asked what the “delusion” was, he replied:
I think it’s that we can just surround ourselves with people that agree with us a lot of the time in terms of the party leadership and also within the party itself and think that’s just who we need to be talking to constantly, instead of listening to people who don’t agree with us. Not that we inherently agree with them, but I think so much of the issue that we have as a party right now is a fund – a kind of condescending tone that we have in a number of ways where we’re seen increasingly as elitist, as out of touch. And I think there are real conversations that we need to have. And we also need to have – help more, not just young people, but people from normal backgrounds run for office.
He then praised Walz, saying, “I think Tim Walz was actually a great example of this, of running as a teacher and gaining all the experience that he had to out – massively outperform, even in a Trump-held district, right?”
Hogg has a history of outlandish statements and self-promotion; in June 2022, he accused Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio of avoiding him because Hogg “triggered” him, writing in a later-deleted tweet, “Rubio staff said I can’t meet with him or his staff because I ‘trigger’ him. I just wanna have a conversation. Please meet with me @marcorubio I just want to figure out how we can stop these things from happening. We have to end the continuous debate and find what we can agree on.”

“No one said such a thing, Rubio’s Chief of Staff Michael Needham responded to Hogg. “As for the meeting, you must be confused as we had a 2p meeting scheduled with you. However, since you are lying and clearly using this all for self-promotion, that meeting is now cancelled [sic]. … the reporter doing a profile of you knows the meeting is real since she was emailing yesterday with our comms team about it. Don’t lie again — we have receipts.”

In August 2018, Hogg claimed that the “NRA is pulling strings to increase gun sales in a record low year.” He was immediately fact-checked:
There have been about 1 million more FBI background checks, the most reliable indicator of gun sales, this year than last year and this year is on pace to be the second-best in the history of NICS. So, no, gun sales are not experiencing a record low year. https://t.co/3TuvrVnvOu

In September 2020, Hogg stated, “The use of violence to acquire political power is deeply rooted in imperialism, capitalism and white supremacy[.] I personally refuse to believe that the use of this same violence will ever create nonviolent systems of government that represent and support everyone.” He later apologized but added, “Let me be clear what I am NOT trying to do is tell BIPOC people how they should react to violence directed at them by the state. It’s not my place or any white persons to direct or criticize the way BIPOC people choose to defend themselves against this violence from the state.”
Hogg was accepted to Harvard University despite getting only a 1270 on his SATs. “The bottom 25% of students admitted had an average score of 1460,” Business Insider noted.
75% of Harvard students score over a 1470 on their SAT with the bottom 25% averaging just over 1400. You really need over a 1470 to be considered.
David Hogg’s SAT score was 1270.
He was denied to UCLA, UC San Diego, and UC Irvine, where a 1240 places you above average. https://t.co/wfpQkHOCxA
