At least four people were killed and five others were wounded after a “juvenile” opened fire at a Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday, according to police.

Madison police said that the shooter was found dead when officers arrived on the scene at 10:57 a.m. at Abundant Life Christian School (ALCS) and police immediately began life-saving efforts on the wounded. Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said in a press conference that police believe the shooter was a student at the school, but he did not identify the shooter.

“The police department did not fire their weapons,” Barnes said.

The police chief did not say if the victims were students or teachers, saying that the immediate priority was notifying families. Barnes said that the injuries range from minor to life-threatening.

ALCS was beginning its last week before Christmas break. The school offers education for students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
