Now-former President Joe Biden spent his last few hours in office issuing blanket pardons — which he swore in 2020 that he would not do — to a few select people, most of whom he simultaneously claimed were not guilty of any wrongdoing.

While a number of critics pointed out the fact that Biden had gone back on his word, most voiced concerns about who had received those pardons and what that said about them — and about Biden.

“Biden pardons Milley, Fauci, and J6 Committee. Absolutely Insane and Absolutely Predictable,” podcaster Tim Pool posted.

Drew Holden with American Compass noted the disparity in the way that The New York Times had covered the last-minute pardons issued by Biden compared to those issued by President Donald Trump in January 2020.

The former were described by NYT reporter Peter Baker as being issued “to head off politically driven prosecutions.” The latter, as described by Maggie Haberman and Michael Schmidt, were intended “to override courts, juries and prosecutors to apply his own standard of justice for his allies.”

Journalist Michael Shellenberger took particular issue with the pardon issued to Fauci, saying that any investigations into the origins of the COVID pandemic — and any role Fauci may have played — needed to continue.

“Biden pardoned Fauci. He says it’s not an admission of guilt. But if Fauci were innocent, no pardon would be needed. The evidence suggests Fauci helped create the Covid pandemic, and then covered it up. The investigation must go forward. All Covid & Fauci Files must be released,” he wrote.

Attorney Mike Davis shared a reminder that the Biden administration had once painted a very different picture of what a pardon might mean — and what it might say about the person who chose to accept one.

“Biden Justice Department tells court an acceptance of pardon is ‘a confession of guilt,’” he said.

“Ask yourself this: Why would Joe Biden pardon Fauci if he wasn’t a criminal who should be locked up for his lies, negligence, & greed that killed innocent Americans? Biden was already going out in shame and disgrace, but this is a new low,” women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines added.

“The Fauci and Milley pardons are particular indictments of their behind the scenes work, and the American people deserve to know if they lobbied for them personally from an addled and mentally absent chief executive,” conservative journalist Ben Domenech posted.

He went on to challenge any journalists who spoke to those who had received pardons to ask specifically about whether they had sought those pardons out: “The next interviews that Fauci, Milley, or J6 Committee members give, all must be asked if they lobbied for these pardons personally and if so, who they lobbied. It’s journalistic malpractice to not ask that question.”

“So with Joe Biden pardoning Mark Milley, a reminder that Milley was a willing & public participant in the scandalous cover-up of Biden’s lack of physical & mental fitness to be president,” author Jerry Dunleavy said.

And from the End Wokeness account: “10 days ago, Biden said he will only pardon individuals who committed crimes. Today he pardoned Fauci, Milley, Cheney, EVERYONE on the J/6th Committee.”

“Biden’s fitting final act. He pardoned his grifter family. Both brothers, sister, and all three in-laws going all the way back to January 1, 2014, the year the Ukraine grift began and the China grift accelerated. Pre-emptive pardons. Total admission of guilt,” The New York Post’s Miranda Devine added.

OutKick’s Clay Travis posted one final reminder: “In December of 2020 Joe Biden said you wouldn’t see any pre-emptive pardons in his administration. All Biden did was lie for four years.”
