President-elect Donald Trump said on Monday the U.S. government “knows what is happening” with the reports of mysterious drone sightings above New Jersey and other states in recent weeks.

A reporter got a chuckle out of Trump with a question about the situation during a press conference in Florida.

“The government knows what is happening,” Trump said. “Look, our military knows where they took off from. If it’s a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went. And for some reason, they don’t want to comment. And I think they’d be better off saying what it is.”

Last week, the Pentagon insisted that it was not aware of any evidence to suggest the sightings have a foreign link and denied that they were U.S. military drones. Federal authorities also claimed that imagery showed that most sightings were of manned aircraft operating lawfully.

Still, Trump and many others have indicated they do not believe the U.S. government is being completely forthcoming.

“Mystery Drone sightings all over the Country,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social last week. “Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I don’t think so! Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!! DJT.”

On Monday, Trump declared that President Joe Biden must be aware of what is happening.

“Our military knows and our president knows. And for some reason, they want to keep people in suspense,” Trump said. “I can’t imagine it’s the enemy, because if it was the enemy, they’d blast it out. Even if they were late, they’d blast it. Something strange is going on. For some reason, they don’t want to tell the people.”

Sightings have even been reported in the night skies near military sites, critical infrastructure, and Trump’s golf club in Bedminster — something that the president-elect mentioned on Monday.

“They happen to be over Bedminster. They’re very close to Bedminster,” Trump said before quipping, “I think maybe I won’t spend the weekend in Bedminster. I’ve decided to cancel my trip.”

Trump declined to give a substantive answer when asked if he’s received an intelligence briefing on the suspected drones.

“I don’t want to comment on that,” he said.
