Former advisor — first to former President Barack Obama and then to Vice President Kamala Harris — David Plouffe deleted his X (formerly Twitter) account after predicting her victory and taking a swipe at former President Joe Biden.
Following former President Donald Trump’s stunning victory on Wednesday against the VP, Plouffe took to social media and wrote, “It was a privilege to spend the last 100 days with @KamalaHarris and the amazing staff led by @jomalleydillon who left it all on the field for their country,” the New York Post reported.
“We dug out of a deep hole but not enough,” he added, before he deleted his X account on Thursday. “A devastating loss. Thanks for being in the arena, all of you.”
On Tuesday night, CNN spoke to Plouffe, who predicted that Harris was going to sweep all seven of the battleground states in the 2024 election: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina. In the end, it was Trump who ended up sweeping all seven.
In the clip on X, Plouffe said they had prepared for the race to be “super close,” but that he was feeling good about their chances and claimed that undecided were turning their way.

He also said that they were “closing strong” in Pennsylvania, and that they had a “credible pathway to all seven states … to go into Kamala’s column. But we believe they are all going to be close.”
Plouffe was the manager for Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign which resulted in him winning the White House for the first time.
In a statement to POLITICO, Harris’ campaign advisor said he was “Just taking a break as part of reimmersion into life and out of the campaign bunker,” the Post noted.
One aide to Harris after the election told POLITICO, “We ran the best campaign we could, considering Joe Biden was president. Joe Biden is the singular reason Kamala Harris and Democrats lost tonight.”
After Plouffe’s dig at Biden, one source connected to the president said that “Joe Biden is the President of the United States and won without [Plouffe]. He successfully beat Donald Trump — something [Plouffe] never did,” Fox News reported.
The source also labeled Plouffe a “sanctimonious a**” and bashed the advisor’s “unproductive” social media post.
